The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service for the Nintendo DS and Wii closes on May 20th, 2014. That’s just five days away, are you ready for the great switch off? Here’s how to get the most out of the Pokémon Ranger series of games whilst you still can.
This guide will tell you how to access all the Ranger Net missions in the upcoming post Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection world. It is best to make preparations now, but not required.
Pokémon Ranger
The original Pokémon Ranger only had one Ranger Net mission, and that mission is unlockable using a password, and thus without using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, so this game is actually future-proof. The mission allows players to transfer a Manaphy Egg to any Generation IV game. This transfer occurs using local wireless connection and also does not need Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The passwords for English games are listed below, more can be found on Bulbapedia.

Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia
This uses the Pokémon Ranger Mission Injector, which can be found over on GBAtemp, along with the appropriate instructions.
The mission injector will add all downloadable missions to your save file, however you need to transfer that save file to a computer. I have a guide on how to transfer Nintendo DS save files to your PC, which you can find here.
The following missions are included with the mission injector:
- Recover the Manaphy Egg! (Reward: Manaphy Egg)
- Rescue the Kidnapped Riolu! (Reward: Riolu)
- Liberate the Tower! (Reward: Darkrai)
- Dialga in Hia Valley!?
- Palkia in Haruba Desert!?
- For the Bride and Shaymin!
Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs
This also uses the Pokémon Ranger Mission Injector, which can be found over on GBAtemp. Again this requires having the save file (.sav file) on your computer, my guide to doing this is available here.
Unlike Shadows of Almia, the mission injector will not add every downloadable mission to your save file!
So listen up, you need to do this before May 20th!The following missions are not available using the mission injector and can only be obtained using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection:
- Giratina’s Griseous Orb!
- Pledge to Arceus
I highly recommend downloading these missions now. Whilst there will be a method to get them in the future, it will require a completely new save file and you having to replay the whole game again. You’ve been warned.
Fortunately the missions with rewards are included in the mission injector:

Wrap-up
You’d better get those Guardian Signs missions downloaded, and fast – everything else can wait. I recommend taking a copy of your save file before you play these missions. Doing this allows you to repeat the mission (and more importantly, the mission’s distribution) in the future.

In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, you once again play as a Pokémon Ranger, working to help people, Pokémon and nature in a new area called the Almia Region. Starting out as a Student Ranger, you quickly earn the title of a full-fledged Pokémon Ranger. As you succeed in more and more missions, you will aspire to become the highest Ranger rank: Top Ranger. Along the way you meet and capture all kinds of different Pokémon.
How to progress through the game: Capture wild Pokémon and create a team to clear obstacles and puzzles encountered along the way. After using a Pokémon’s ability, it will leave your team; however, you will have a Partner Pokémon that will always stay by your side. As you progress through Missions and Quests, your Capture Styler becomes more powerful, giving your Styler more Energy and eventually advancing you to the level of Top Ranger.
Characters: Hundreds of Pokémon. Players can choose to be a boy or girl Pokémon Ranger.
Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Use the Capture Styler to capture wild Pokémon. Once they are captured, wild Pokémon will follow the player around until their powers are used (either in a Poké Assist or a Field Move).
• A Poké Assist is when the player uses an already captured Pokémon to help capture another wild Pokémon.

• A Field Move is when the player uses a captured Pokémon’s power to clear an obstacle in the way or perform another helpful function.
• Pokémon Ranger is a unique action-adventure series that features a fun, different way to capture Pokémon with the Nintendo DS stylus, which controls an item called the Capture Styler in the game. Players circle the Pokémon they want to catch by drawing circles around them on the touch screen. When you complete certain Quests, the Ranger Union awards you with power-ups, which add new upgrades and functions to your Capture Styler, allowing you to advance as you work to eventually become a Top Ranger (the most revered Ranger of all).

• Now you can partner with a variety of different Pokémon of each type to complete Missions—giving you many options on how to approach different challenges.
